Scientific Oration at the 24th Dies Natalis of IAHN-TP Palangka Raya
IAHNTP News,- As part of the commemoration of Dies Natalis 24th Anniversary Celebration of Institut Agama Hindu Negeri Tampung Penyang (IAHN-TP) Palangka Raya, held on Saturday (26/7/2026), a scientific oration was delivered by Dr. Ni Nyoman Rahmawati, S.Ag., M.Si., entitled “Local Wisdom: A Bridge for Building Civilization Amid Multiculturalism and Religious Plurality.”
In her address, Dr. Rahmawati underlined that building a harmonious society within cultural and religious diversity is not an easy task. She highlighted that challenges such as discrimination, majority domination, negative stereotypes, and the politicization of religion remain major obstacles in Indonesia’s social life, often triggering conflicts related to ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup relations.
Amid these challenges, she emphasized, local wisdom emerges as a highly relevant and valuable solution. Rooted in ancestral teachings and practices, local wisdom embodies moral values such as solidarity, mutual respect, tolerance, and communal cooperation.
“Local wisdom is not merely a cultural heritage, but also a source of social ethics and philosophy of life that can bridge differences. When communities are able to internalize and practice these values, an inclusive, peaceful, and just civilization can be realized,” Dr. Rahmawati affirmed before the academic community and invited guests.
The oration also served as an academic reflection during the 24th Dies Natalis of IAHN-TP Palangka Raya, underlining that religious higher education institutions hold a strategic role in strengthening national values, fostering tolerance, and revitalizing local wisdom amid the growing tide of globalization.
Through this scientific oration, IAHN-TP Palangka Raya reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding and promoting local wisdom as a cultural and social asset for building a peaceful and civilized future for the nation.
