Marriage Registration Practice: Hindu Law Study Program Strengthens Integrity and Administrative Accuracy

IAHNTPNews – The Faculty of Dharma Sastra (FDS), Institut Agama Hindu Negeri Tampung Penyang (IAHN-TP) Palangka Raya, through the Hindu Law Study Program, held a Marriage Registration Practice under the theme “Building Integrity and Accuracy in Hindu Marriage Administration.” The activity took place at the Hall of the Faculty of Dharma Sastra on Wednesday (22/10).

The event presented two speakers, Suwito, S.Ag., M.Si. and Dr. Wayan Gepu, S.Ag., M.Fil.H., and was moderated by Gelar Sumbogo Peni, S.Ag., M.Si. The workshop was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Dharma Sastra, Dr. I Made Kastama, S.H., M.H.

In his remarks, the Dean stated that the marriage registration practice was a new innovation.

“This activity is very important because in the future, the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) is projected to record marriages across all religions. Therefore, we need to prepare competent human resources in the field of marriage registration administration,” he said.

He further noted that if the KUA becomes the central registry for all religious marriages, the administration of marriage and divorce will become more integrated under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

“I appreciate this activity because through such practices, students do not only learn about the ritual and ceremonial aspects of marriage, but also the administrative procedures that determine the legal validity of marriage registration,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Committee Chair, Stepenson, S.Ag., M.H., explained that the activity aimed to apply students’ theoretical knowledge to real-life practice.

“Students are trained to understand how to communicate with related parties, think critically about social realities, and be ready to engage directly in Hindu marriage administration services,” he stated.

The activity was attended by first and fifth semester students of the Hindu Law and Customary Law study programs. Through this practice, students are expected to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Hindu marriage registration process and be prepared to contribute to the improvement of marriage administration governance in the future. //mr//
