IAHN-TP Palangka Raya Holds “Green Dharma, Green Campus” Activity

IAHNTPNews – In commemoration of the Sacred Day of Tumpek Wariga (Tumpek Uduh), Institut Agama Hindu Tampung Penyang (IAHN-TP) Palangka Raya held the “Green Dharma, Green Campus” activity as a tangible expression of love for the environment and nature conservation, embodying the Tri Hita Karana concept. The event took place across the campus area on Friday (24/10).

The activity was attended by 271 participants, including institutional leaders, civil servants, lecturers, staff, and student representatives of IAHN-TP Palangka Raya. Together, they carried out a tree planting initiative at various locations within the campus and along Jl. G. Obos, in front of the IAHN-TP campus, extending to the back area of the campus.

A total of 258 tree seedlings were planted during the event, consisting of productive species such as rambutan, mango, water guava, matoa fruit (also known as pacific lychee), jackfruit, breadfruit, tamarind, longan, guava, and durian.

The “Green Dharma” activity was a part of the realization of the Tri Hita Karana values, particularly in maintaining harmony between humans and nature (palemahan). Through the sacred moment of Tumpek Wariga, the IAHN-TP academic community was invited to cultivate ecotheological awareness—that caring for and loving the environment is an essential aspect of Hindu spiritual practice.

The Rector of IAHN-TP, Dr. Mujiyono, S.Ag., M.Ag., stated that the activity symbolizes the institute’s commitment to implementing Hindu values based on harmony and environmental preservation.

“Green Dharma is not only about planting trees but also about planting awareness that the Earth is part of ourselves. Through this activity, we nurture devotion to nature and strengthen a culture of environmental care. Let us plant and care for trees with love,” said the Rector.

The tree-planting activity also reflects the implementation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ Asta Protas, particularly in the aspect of ecotheology. “Green Dharma” serves as a concrete step by IAHN-TP Palangka Raya to support the Green Campus Program and to strengthen learning based on Hindu ecotheology and environmental awareness.

Through “Green Dharma, Green Campus,” IAHN-TP Palangka Raya demonstrates a real commitment to preserving the Earth and honoring plants as sources of life, reminding us that caring for nature is part of human dharma, and humanity itself is an inseparable part of nature. //ay//
