IAHN-TP Holds TOEFL Training to Strengthen Students’ English Proficiency and Global Competitiveness

IAHNTPNews,- Institut Agama Hindu Negeri Tampung Penyang (IAHN-TP) Palangka Raya, through its Language Training Unit (UPT Bahasa), organized a TOEFL Training Program for IAHN-TP students. The activity was officially opened by the Rector of IAHN-TP, Dr. Mujiyono, S.Ag., M.Ag., held at the 3rd Floor Student Center Hall.

In his remarks, the Rector emphasized the importance of mastering two key competencies in the modern era, English proficiency and information technology skills.

“Students must have competencies in using English and technology. Do not learn only when training is provided, but engage in structured and continuous learning. Be teachers and students who can guide and develop competencies for the nation’s progress,” he stated.

He further noted that UPT Bahasa has opened the TOEFL Training Institute (LPT) and the Professional Certification Institute (LSP) to support the improvement of students’ competencies.

“Young people, especially prospective civil servants under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, must possess skills and certification. English and IT are now essential requirements in the professional world,” he added.

The head of UPT Bahasa IAHN-TP, Winawati, S.Pd., M.Pd., explained that the training was designed to meet contemporary demands and is part of the institution’s efforts to prepare students for global challenges.

“Students must master English, and having a TOEFL certificate will be an important requirement, including for postgraduate students, prior to graduation. This year, we also sent 17 students to Palangka Raya University to take the TOEFL test,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Committee Chair, Dedy Ariyanto Bannus, S.Pd., M.Ed., conveyed his appreciation for the support provided by all parties involved.

“We hope this training brings significant benefits to all participants and becomes a valuable asset for strengthening the competitiveness of IAHN Tampung Penyang students at national and international levels,” he stated.

The 2025 TOEFL Training Program was attended by 90 participants, consisting of 30 postgraduate students, 20 students from the Faculty of Dharma Acarya, 20 from the Faculty of Dharma Sastra, and 20 from the Faculty of Dharma Duta and Brahma Widya.

The speakers and trainers were invited from the English Education Department and the Language Center of Palangka Raya University, namely:

1. Prof. Dr. Maria Arina Luardini, M.A.
2. Dr. Akhmad Fauzan, M.Pd.
3. Emeral, M.Pd.
4. Muhammad Subhan Fikri, M.Pd.

This training aims to strengthen students’ academic English skills, particularly in preparing for the TOEFL test, which has become an essential benchmark for further study and future career development. //mr//
