IAHNTP News,– Institut Agama Hindu Negeri Tampung Penyang (IAHN-TP) Palangka Raya, through the Student Activity Unit (UKM) of Entrepreneurship, held a Workshop on Waste Management Toward a Zero-Waste Campus with the theme “Campus Waste Management Toward Zero Waste: Managing Organic and Inorganic Waste through the 4R Method (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Replace).”
The event took place at the IAHN-TP Student Center Hall, 3rd Floor, on Friday (10/10), attended by the institute’s leadership and the Director of the Palangka Raya City Main Waste Bank, Dr. Kristanto Suryadhi, S.E., M.M.

The workshop was officially opened by the Rector of IAHN-TP Palangka Raya, Dr. Mujiyono, S.Ag., M.Ag., who emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and environmental balance as a shared responsibility among all members of the academic community.
“Cleanliness is our collective responsibility. Nature must be protected from imbalance and pollution. In Hindu teachings, this aligns with the concept of Tri Hita Karana, which upholds harmony between humans and nature, humans and humans, and humans and God. When this balance is disturbed, negative consequences will follow,” the Rector stated.
He further underlined that the program aligns with the Asta Protas values of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, particularly in fostering harmony, compassion, and the strengthening of ecotheology.
“By caring for the environment, we preserve the balance of nature. Waste that has been processed into organic fertilizer can be utilized or even sold, encouraging green entrepreneurship among students. Through the Campus Waste Bank, we can implement ecotheological programs while realizing a green and clean campus,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kristanto Suryadhi, S.E., M.M., Director of the Palangka Raya City Main Waste Bank, highlighted the importance of managing waste from its source.
“Waste is dirty only when unmanaged, but if processed properly, it becomes something useful. Let us start separating organic and non-organic waste from ourselves. Proper waste management can create opportunities for collaboration and innovation in higher education,” he said.

In her report, IAHN-TP Entrepreneurship UKM Advisor, L.P. Muliani Handayani, S.Fil.H., M.Fil.H., stated that the workshop was inspired by Hindu teachings on environmental awareness.
“The main goal of this workshop is to make IAHN-TP a truly clean and environmentally conscious campus. In the future, we hope IAHN-TP will serve as an example of an environmentally friendly university that promotes sustainable waste management,” she explained.
Through this workshop, it is expected that the academic community will deepen its awareness of 4R-based waste management and strengthen its commitment to making IAHN-TP Palangka Raya a green campus with an ecotheological vision that contributes actively to environmental sustainability. //mr//
